About Browse Bible
Browse Bible is a fast, clean reader for the World English Bible (WEB) — a modern public-domain English translation. The goal is simple: get to any book, chapter, or verse in as few taps as possible, with nothing in the way.
How to navigate
- Use the Books link to browse all 66 books by Old and New Testament.
- Use the reference search on the home page to jump directly to any book, chapter, or verse — try John 3, Psalm 23, or Romans 8:28.
- Each chapter page links every verse number to its own permanent verse URL.
- Chapter and book navigation appears at the top and bottom of every page.
The translation
The World English Bible is a public-domain translation completed in 2000, based on the American Standard Version of 1901. It uses modern English while remaining close to the original languages, and is freely reproducible without restriction.
Browse Bible uses the WEB because it is accurate, readable, and unencumbered — the right foundation for a reference tool that should simply get out of your way.
What this site is not
- Not a commentary or devotional layer. The text is the text.
- Not a search engine. The goal is browsing: book → chapter → verse.
- Not a study Bible. There are no cross-references, concordance, or lexicon here.
Companion sites
Browse Bible is part of a small network of scripture reference tools. Each site focuses on a single lens:
- Jesus Text — teachings, parables, and events in the four Gospels, referenced by passage.
- Prayer Archive — Psalms and biblical prayers, organised for daily use.
- Biblical Eats — food, feasts, and fasting in scripture and history.
